I’m back from the camps! Slept for the longest time ever; 15h!

OBS

Since it took place like a wk ago, tt urge to blog has died down alrdy. As cliche as it is, it is seriously a once in a lifetime’s experience. I’ve no regrets going for it, and will even go for it another time. Was in Raleigh (read: ra-leh) watch, which was made up of Aj and NYjc, under instructor Kiah Hong. The 15 of us were truly selfless, constantly helping each other out. Really! I really really enjoy their accompany for the 5days. It was nice to share our experiences & experiences too. I love Raleigh!

Life was back to the simple one, where we lived w/o any electronic gadgets etc and we stayed up at ulu ulu places. (There was this barren ground where they called a campsite. Hah) But its was good alrdy, can bathe everyday leh! Although it was extremely dirty and filthy. We live on BISCUITS as food, MILO POWDER as drinks. But not bad! Cooking and eating tgt was utmost fun. We ate in total darkest on day 1 and ate like a family on day 4! And its was sad that our food supplies was cut short by dog(s) and ants (a whole army of ants infested our haversack!).

Lazy to phrase my words nicely, so just point forms:

  • Jetty Jump
  • Inverse tower challenge (High elements lah)
  • Trust fall/Reaching for the bell thing
  • Night walk!
  • Sea Expedition!
  • Land Expedition!

Felt damn accomplished upon completing the high elements. Jetty jump was sia-suey man, thankyou tonnes to Raleigh guys. The little activities like reaching for the bell thing were meaningful and enriching. Night walk was COOL MAN. Totally own lah. Even better than stjohn’s one. We had to walk solo through the forest back to our campsite for like 10mins. When it was my turn, I turned round to say bye to those behind me. Then I suddenly thought of the ch8 missing show where ppl said bye and fade away and go missing! LOL. I am damn proud to say that I didn’t even run or use any lightsource along the way! And Raleigh made it w/o breaking our lightsticks too! So its practically walking in the dark in the forest. Sea Expedition!! Rocks my socks totally! Paired up with Aida and we talked cock plus sing songs throughout the way. Since she was from NCC(Sea), there was just so much we can talk abt UG man! She’s one great funny person too. Plus she was the navigator for our entire mobile, we were always leading and so we were able to just paddle leisurely. HAHAHAHAHA. Damn cool man, the expedition. Imagine I get to kayak again after a yr plus, tgt with my talk-cock partner, and with all those little challenges like figuring out our way. COOL! Land Expedition was somewhat similar to OTC’s. Walked a total of 13.5++km though Ubin, together with our haversack that weight like TONNES. I guess its even over 10kg. (And after breakcamp when we carried back our own belongings, its seriously feather-like.) Came across this phrase: “Perseverance is what prevails when all other things fail”. One of the checkpoints was the highest summit of Ubin. The view was captivating man. And journey back seemed so so so easy cos everyone was talking and talking. From ghosts (between me and Aida again hahaha) to racist jokes to primary school encounters. LOL. AND OFCOS, THE AJ WANTON MEE! HAHAAHAHA! We talked abt this topic for like THREE days man!

Break camp was nice, where the instructor read this meaningful poem title ‘I want to go Home’ to us. And Kiah Hong left us with a quote: “A leader is one with a compass of brain, and a magnet of heart”.

I love Raleigh. Nice ppl, nice experiences.

I’m glad to have them along side with me. BRAVO APS, PS and myself, the PC! (:

It hasn’t been a totally pleasant experience. But whatever it is, its still heartwarming to see the cadets improving day by day, and that their thoughts are getting more mature. I guess thats the motivation why I’ve picked up the job as a combat trainer, and why I carry on in sj. Its nice to see Yvonne Mdm and she still rmb me though i wasn’t under her before.

I’ll look forward for the next batch of jnrs to join the zone.

And they were saying I sleepwalked. Did I?! I also not sure, perhaps I’m really too tired.

PS: A video to share.
